The Kyrgyz Ak Topozu (Kyrgyz White Yak) has officially been registered as a new animal breed in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, the order on the state registration of the new breed was signed on July 20 at Syrt pasture in Issyk-Kul region by Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Agriculture.
«His many years of work in breeding white yaks made a significant contribution to the formation of the new breed. This achievement is the result of joint efforts by scientists, breeders, specialists, breeding farms, and livestock farmers. As a result of selective breeding work carried out from 2014 to 2026, a new white yak breed was developed with high productivity and adaptability to high-altitude conditions,» the ministry said.
The new yak breed is distinguished by its high-quality white wool and underwool, making it a valuable raw material for the textile industry.
