$300 mln to be allocated from presidential fund for energy sector development

At least $300 million will be allocated from the presidential fund for the development of the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan. Energy Minister Altynbek Rysbekov announced at a briefing.

According to the official, he outlined to the head of state ways to solve the sector’s long-standing problems, and Sadyr Japarov decided to allocate the funding.

«Improvement of the energy sector has never been financed from the national budget or the presidential fund. We have always done this through loans or our own funds. With the allocated funds, we will build new substations and ensure a reliable and safe power supply to consumers,» Altynbek Rysbekov said.

On July 17, following an emergency shutdown of two 220-kilovolt high-voltage lines — Kara-Balta — Glavnaya and Glavnaya — Shu — a massive failure occurred. Following this, the system’s automatic load-shedding system was activated.

In some areas of Bishkek and Chui region, temporary power outages began due to the high load on the power grid.
