The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan’s assets reached 830.4 billion soms in the second quarter of 2026. A year earlier, the figure stood at 713.1 billion. Thus, over the year, the regulator’s assets increased by more than 117 billion soms, or approximately 16 percent. These data are contained in the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic’s report for the second quarter of this year.
The main driver of this growth was monetary gold. Its value on the National Bank’s balance sheet increased from 358 billion soms at the end of June 2025 to 551.2 billion soms as of June 30, 2026—an increase of more than 193 billion soms.
At the same time, cash in hand, in banks, and in other financial institutions, by contrast, decreased almost in half—from 163.4 billion soms to 85.4 billion soms.
The volume of debt securities issued by the National Bank also increased significantly, from 11 billion to 53.2 billion soms. Banknotes and coins in circulation increased, rising from 275.3 billion to 317 billion soms.
The funds of commercial banks and other financial institutions in the regulator’s accounts increased to 168.9 billion soms. At the same time, the funds of the Cabinet of Ministers decreased from 98.1 billion to 79.8 billion soms.
At the end of the reporting period, the National Bank’s profit amounted to 41.5 billion soms, compared to 19.5 billion soms the year before.
The National Bank’s total capital increased from 157.9 billion to 186.3 billion soms, while liabilities increased from 555.3 billion to 644 billion soms.
