Kyrgyzstan is strengthening oversight of the implementation of the Law «On Conflicts of Interest.» The Cabinet of Ministers has amended several decisions concerning the work of government agencies and local governments.
The key change is that the State Agency for Civil Service and Local Government Affairs has been instructed to coordinate and monitor the implementation of the law.
Furthermore, human resources departments of government agencies and local governments are now required not only to collect declarations of interest of employees but also to verify them.
The state agency has also been instructed to develop and approve a separate procedure for verifying such declarations within three months.
In essence, this means that information provided by government and municipal employees regarding their personal interests will be subject to separate verification, and oversight of the entire system will be entrusted to the relevant state agency.
The resolution will come into force in ten days.
