Eight children in Kyrgyzstan receive ventilators for home use

Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Damir Osmonov visited the First Children’s Hospice, where he met with children, their parents, and medical staff.

As part of state support, eight children received ventilators for home use, and nine more received a year’s supply of vital medical supplies.

During the meeting, the further development of palliative care for children, provision of medical equipment and supplies to patients, and additional support measures for families raising children with serious illnesses were discussed.

Dinara Umardzhan, founder of the First Children’s Hospice, noted that Damir Osmonov was the first Minister of Health to visit the institution since its opening.

«Children in need of palliative care are no longer invisible,» she noted, emphasizing that their needs are now recognized at the state level.

According to Dinara Umardzhan, the decision has also significantly reduced the financial burden on families, who previously had to independently provide their children with necessary equipment and supplies.

The first children’s hospice has been operating since 2016 and is the only specialized palliative care facility for children in Kyrgyzstan. Dinara Umardzhan expressed hope that the minister’s visit will mark the beginning of the systematic development of children’s palliative care and closer cooperation between the government, the medical community, and the hospice.
