A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway in Talas region on Talas River, where 15-year-old Bayel Timur uulu was swept away by the current a month and a half ago.
According to Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the region Ermat Dzhumaev, 320 people are currently involved in the search. They include 70 rescuers led by the head of the Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Talas region, 172 employees of district administrations, aiyl okmotu (local administrations), and relevant services, as well as 78 local residents.
The incident occurred on June 23 on the outskirts of the village of Chon-Tokoi. The teenager fell into the water. The search has been ongoing since. During the search operation, a tragedy occurred: due to a strong current, one of the 15 rescuers sent by the Ministry of Emergency Situations drowned.
